$5 DUPE for Urban Decay Naked Palette!

Hey ladies! If you've been lusting after the Urban Decay Naked palette ($48) but havent been able to get your hands on it yet, check out the E.L.F. Beauty Book Neutral Eye Edition ($5) at Target!!! As you can see from the swatches they are eerily similar. Sorry for the bad quality on the first swatch set, they look good on my camera and bad when I uploaded them. Not sure how that happened.

The top row of swatches are from UD Naked, bottom row swatches are from E.L.F. Neutral Eye. As you can see they're pretty much identical, the only different I noticed was that obviously some of the E.L.F. shadows are not as pigmented and smooth as the UD Naked ones. But thats what you have to expect from a $5 product compared to a higher end brand. As far as shades go though, they're soooo close!

Overall, I have to admit this is the closest dupe for Naked I have ever seen (even better than NYX Nude on Nude palette) and so cheap, you're basically saving yourself $43! What do you think?

  1. I have this Neutral Eye Beauty Book! Except mine is brown, not white and the colors are a little different. I guess this one's a new version? I'm sure elf had the UD Naked Palette in mind when they made this because they are pretty dead on in the swatches! Nice, I may have to pick this up. :)

  2. I know, its crazy isnt it!?? When i opened the palette in the store i never thought they were so similar, until I got home and started swatching. Next i want Wet N Wilds Comfort Zone set which is a dupe for Kat Von D's Ludwig palette.

  3. Wow! Those colors are ridiculously close. I actually have the UD Naked pallete and use it all the time, but if I ever run out I know where to go.

  4. I totally agree! I was amazed at how similar they are. I love my UD Naked but i am keeping this as a backup!

  5. Wow, amazing! I do think I need some neutral shades, but I don't think I like or use them enough to get the UD palette (I actually got it for my b-day but returned it). For $5 though, I will definitely add a neutral palette to my stash! Thanks for the swatches!

  15. @Laetitia - E.L.F.'s shadows arent quite as pigmented as the Urban Decay ones, but thats to be expected considering the huge price difference in the two products. However, if you dont want to spend $48 on UD Naked, then the E.LF. Beauty Book for $5 is the closest dupe you're going to find :)

  16. Do you know if this is still available?? I've been looking everywhere, and I have a few beauty books but I don't have this one and it isn't at my Target store OR online at elf. I'm about to hit pan on a few of my colors on my NAKED palette and don't want to spend another $50 if I can help it. GREAT swatches, btw. Thanks!

  21. Do you know what ELF colours were included in this beauty book?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes,I already have this book,as well as several others from E.L.F. I had the Urban Decay palette in mind when I bought all three different eyeshadow books from E.L.F. I do like the colors. However,I do find that the staying power for the ELF eyeshadow isn't very good, and I use a primer underneath as well. Also,it does not have the same, almost creamy texture that UD eyeshadow does. That's the best way I can explain it,like a creamy-ish texture that just glides on. I know that's why the UD palettes are so expensive, because they are better quality, and wear better/longer,and they will charge what the market can bear, and with the high end makeup making comeback in a big way, they can charge a lot, because so many women will pay the ridiculous price.
That being said, the bottom line for me is that while I do like the UD eyeshadow better, and know it's better quality and wears/goes on better....I'm also not going to drop 50 bucks for eyeshadow. It's just not happening. At the age of 30 now,I have parred down on how important my looks are to me a lot,and expensive makeup just isn't a priority at all,no matter how good it is. It's like the designer perfume knock-offs- The brand name designer perfume wears better, lasts longer, and usually smells the best, but with the knock-offs coming close or roundabout to the designer perfume smell,ya go with the knock-off if you aren't into paying a lot for perfumes and makeup. Overall,I'd give this E.L.F. book/palette a C+ to a B compared to the UD palette. Again,I have all three versions of the eyeshadow books/palettes,including the natural eye edition, and of the three, the natural eye is the best.
BUT,I wanted to add something else! At the same time I bought the e.l.f. eyeshadow books,I also ordered an eyeshadow palette on ebay, from China. It has 20-somthing colors, natural mostly,I think there's one navy color, but the rest are all natural colors. They have a lot of matte colors (which is what I'm very much into right now,as opposed to the overly shimmery ones),so I like that, and they also have a few in the palette that have some shimmer as well. And,I must say,I use that one everyday,it's good quality, and I paid only $9.90 including free shipping. It did take a bit over 3 weeks to get it,obviously coming from China,it takes a lot more time than if it were here in the states. But for me,it was worth it. Again, not the top quality of UD or MAC,but pretty darn good, better than the e.l.f. in fact! I'd give it a solid B+
I got all three e.l.f eyeshadow books when they were having a sale, all 3 books for $9.99 plus shipping, and I also was able to find a coupon code for 15% off,so I got a couple of other products from them, like their eye liner pot which is like a cream eyeliner, and comes with the little thin brush, and I love it! E.L.F. is great in the price department for sure, and pretty decent in the quality department. But my ultimate suggestion,is not to forget to check out ebay, and buy from China. Stuff is extremely inexpensive, often shipping is free, and though the wait time sucks,it does come in perfect condition. I also ordered 2 wigs from the same seller/company,synthetic hair wigs, and one set of natural human hair extensions, and I was shocked at the quality of the synthetic wigs and extensions! The human hair one was nice, the same great quality as the remy human hair extensions I've bought here, but at a much, much smaller price. And the synthetic wigs and extensions were all anywhere from $7.00 to $21.00,and just amazing quality! I have very long black hair, but it's extremely thin,so I like some more volume, and as for the wigs, sometimes if I don't feel like showering to run out to the store or something,I can just pop a wig on,and it looks like my own natural hair! And,I've found the same goes for many of the clothing items I've bought on ebay from China. I'm not Asian, but very much like their style and looks. So don't forget to check there for many beauty and fashion things as well!

  28. First off I want to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question that
I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you
center yourself and clear your head prior to writing.
I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there.

I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first
10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out
how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Thanks!
