LUSH Snake Oil

I purchased this scalp treatment bar from LUSH about a month or so ago and i've used it twice sense then. It claims to temporarily reduce and/or eliminate dandruff or itchy/flaky scalps. Its a little tricky and messy to use, but i've got 10 steps down to make it quicker and easier for you!!

YOU WILL NEED:

APPLYING TREATMENT:
  1. Section hair as if you were going to blow dry it. Secure w. clips or bobby pins.
  2. Take the Snake Oil bar and sit it on a plastic bag or the wrapper it came in.
  3. Heat the bar for 10-15 seconds with your hair dryer on high.
  4. It will quickly melt, so run 1-2 fingers across the melted oil and apply it to scalp in-between your hair sections Try to avoid your actual hair as much as possible, ONLY apply to scalp.
  5. Repeat step #4 until you feel that most and/or all of your scalp is covered in the treatment. You may need to turn your hair dryer on and re-heat the bar several times.
  6. Cover hair with a shower cap or towel and let sit for 20 mins or overnight.
REMOVING TREATMENT:
  1. On high heat, blow dry your roots so the Snake Oil treatment re-melts. This will make for MUCH easier removal.
  2. Jump in the shower, quickly get roots wet with warm water.
  3. Apply a clarifying or anti-dandruff shampoo to roots and massage really well.
  4. Rinse (and repeat if necessary) until you feel all the Snak Oil treatment is out of your hair. Apply a conditioner is you want, avoiding the roots.
Thats all! I know it seems a little lengthy but its only 10 steps in all, i just tried to be as helpful as possible. *A little warning: this stuff smells pretty gross. Its like very smokey burnt bacon (seriously!) but the scent does not linger in hair, so if you can tolerate it please give this amazing product a try!!

After using this a couple times i immediately noticed my scalp was less itchy and i dont notice flakes anymore. Its not a permanent fix, especially if you have particularly flaky scalp to begin with, but it helps for the time being. I would have to assume if used on a regular basis (1-2x per week), Snake Oil from LUSH would keep your dandruff at bay!

Nexxus Pro-Mend Split End Binding Targeted Leave-In Treatment

I saw tons of people raving about this Nexxus Pro-Mend Split End Binding Targeted Leave-In Treatment ($10.50) on luuux.com so i decided I needed to fork out the money after having my hair cut (9 inches!!) and having alot of split ends. I found this at CVS, so if you're thinking about getting it check here first but make sure you get the right product. I found several Nexxus Pro-Mend Split End Binding products there.

First of all, this stuff smells absolutely amazing!! Its very fresh and fruity smelling. Definitely something you want your hair to smell like alllll day :) The product itsself is a creamy white liquid, definitely not sticky at all. It applies to hair nicely and doesnt weight it down at all. After using it for the past few weeks I have noticed a HUGE difference in my hair! My split ends are much less noticeable, my hair is softer and smoother, and its overall alot healthier. This will definitely be a re-purchase for me!

If any of you ladies have damaged hair and/or split-ends I would seriously recommend this product!!

Renpure Organics Amazing Miracle Deep Penetrating Reconstructor

Whew. Looong name. I purchased this trial-size packed of Renpure Organics Amazing Miracle Deep Penetrating Reconstructor at Walgreens for 99¢ a few weeks ago. At the time i had very long hair (ive had 9 inches cut off since then) and this packet was good for 2 uses for me. With the medium shoulder-length hair i have NOW it would be good for about 4 uses.

It isnt anything amazing... I mean it does soften hair but not as well as you would expect from a "deep pentrating" conditioner. It worked about as well as any of my daily conditioners did. Nothing special. I might re-purchase this because its travel friendly, but not for home use.

Tutorial: Wake Up With Beach Waves!!

Today I'm going to show you my tutorial (with pictures) on how to wake up with sexy beach waves!! The steps are very simple and you dont have to use the same hair products as I do, just use whatever you have at your home, or you like alot.

STEPS:
  1. Wash hair with a curl or wave enhancing shampoo. My hair is thick/long so I dont condition afterwards.
  2. After washing, use a wide tooth comb or detangling comb on wet hair.
  3. Apply a leave in conditioner or curl/wave enhancing gel or cream. I used WEN Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner.
  4. Comb through thoroughly.
  5. Allow hair to air dry for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Pull hair into a high pony tail.
  7. Pick up pony tail and twist tightly, then wrap around the base in a circle to make a bun.
  8. Apply another elastic band on the outside of the bun to secure it.
  9. Leave in over night for sexy beach waves in the morning!
TIPS & TRICKS:

  • If you wake up throughout the night and your bun has come undone, try to put it back up (if you're not too tired, lol) until morning. When you get up in the morning remove both elastic bands  and tousle hair. I find it best to finger comb instead of using anything else because it has a tendency to mess up the 'beach wave' effect. Feel free to apply a scrunching gel or light-medium hold moveable hair spray.
  • Because I have really thick long hair, when I wake up in the morning my hair is still mostly wet (crazy, i know!). So i usually blow dry hair a little before doing this.
  • Your roots are not going to be very wavy from being pulled tight into the bun alnight, so i like to give myself a 'bump' or a 1/2 pony tail.
  • If your hair isnt quite as wavy as you would have liked when you wake up, simply take a hot curling iron and quickly twist some pieces around it with your fingers to fix any straight pieces and perfect your wave.
