John Frieda Precision Foam Colour (Deep Cherry Brown) $11.50
I was surprised at how much i liked foam color as opposed to typical at-home boxed hair dye. I normally get my hair done at a salon but because my hair is so thick & long it costs anywhere from $60-$70 to get it dyed professionally. Since my roots were showing from my last professional dye job, i wanted to try a new foam color instead.
First off, the application is a breeze and totally eliminates the need for any outside help even if you have long or thick hair like i do. You simply mix the solutions and squeeze the bottle to create foam (it is not a pump bottle). I can promise you i got about 2x (maybe 3x) more dye from the foam than i ever have from a typical boxed dye. I seriously didnt need it all... its like it just kept creating more foam/dye from nothing even when it seemed like there was hardly anything in the bottle. You apply it to roots first, then work your way outward massaging into hair.
The more vigorously you massage + apply foam the more "sudsy" it is, almost like a shampoo. They key is to work quickly and always keep your hands moving to create more suds on your head. I know you cant see in the pictures, but my hair is relatively long (i cant even curl or straight it by myself sometimes) but w/ this foam color it was sooooo easy. Plus i had so much dye to work with i never had to worry about running out. The box says for short-medium hair only use 2/3 of the bottle.
A picture of my hair in a bun 5mins after applying the foam color. You can still see some tiny bubbles from the foam, but it has mostly disappeared at this point.

Finished product. This is my hair immediately after being blow dried. No styling products.
Overall i reallllyyy liked it! Yes, its a little more pricey than other at-hme dyes but its a quality product, more dye than other boxes, easier application, and all around well worth the money. Im pleased w/ the color and the fact i cant see ANY bare spots or any sign that i missed areas of my hair. Im 100% positive i covered it completely because of the foam. I will definitely re-purchase these, but i think they should make smaller bottles for "root touch ups" because one of these would be WAY too much.
What do you think? Would you try the new at-home foam colors?
